Is 11:00 good with you?&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Them: &#8220;Great, I look forward to talking with you.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wednesday evening\/Thursday morning<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I look up my contact and other employees on LinkedIn; the company&#8217;s profile on Glassdoor, Crunchbase, LinkedIn, and their own website; I see the types of jobs they offer and make a note at how long they have been listed. Everything looks pretty good to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I rarely get nervous anymore, but I find myself awake at 3:30am thinking about the possibilities and trying to not think about the possibilities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thursday<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The phone interview goes well and afterwards I feel confident about my chances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I share with my close personal friend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geebrunchpodcast.com\">Mike <\/a>that I have a good feeling about this place\/opportunity and &#8220;I have hope, but the last few times I had hope, I was disappointed.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Friday afternoon<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Them: &#8220;Hi Derek, we feel like you have a great background, but it has been a while since you have been a Systems Administrator and we&#8217;re looking for someone who&#8217;s a bit more up to date in the field.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t really respond. I see that Gmail has a few canned responses for me, so I just click the one closest to the mouse cursor: &#8220;Thank you for the update.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sunday morning<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Me, while going over my Job Search journal: &#8220;What was the name of that company from last week again?&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday Them: &#8220;Hi, Derek, we would like to do a phone interview with you tomorrow&#8221; Me: &#8220;That sounds good.
