One Example Of A Weird Voicemail Message

I just checked the house phone voicemail for the first time this week. All of the household members older than 13 have their own cellphone and the only reason we have a land line is because our cable provider charges less for their services if you have phone service as part of the bundle. Very few people call the line, so checking the voicemail is a very low priority.

The only message was a political call from a congressman (who is not in charge of my district) who was sorry that we didn’t attend a telephone town hall meeting to discuss a variety of issues with me and my neighbors. However, there was still an opportunity to join a live forum if I received the phone call on Tuesday June 18, 2013 between the hours of 7:00 and 7:30 pm. Not only was that NOT a very large window of time, but I received the phone call at Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 7:23.

So even if I was interested in talking about a variety of issues that affected me and my neighbors with a congressman who was not in our district, but I only had about 30 minutes to do it in and 23 of them had already passed. The number given was toll-free, so I am sure the late notice was so that the congressman’s office didn’t have to pay a large phone bill.

He ended the call by giving his House website, which left me wondering why he just didn’t say he was sorry that he missed me on the phone call and then pointed me to the website? Why go through the theatrics of giving me the toll-free numbers?
