Too many bells and whistles

I was checking one of the many email addresses that I have (one of the drawbacks with having your own New Media presence is that you have to have more than one email address) and I got something from Stickam. For those of you who don’t know, Stickam is an “All-In-One Multimedia Tool” and according to their website ” Stickam™ allows you to easily place streaming video, slide show, music, and live video chat on your blog and/or web site. With Stickam™, you can instantly play your videos online using just your web browser. There is no software to download, you just copy and paste the Stickam™ Code into your web site or blog where you want it. Your video can be viewed by virtually anyone with no software to install and will play on any operating system including Linux, Windows and Mac.

Sounds great and could come in handy if I decide to redo one of many websites. The only problem is, I don’t recall signing up for Stickam. I’m not saying that I didn’t, but it just made me realize that I don’t pay attention to all of the many sites offering bells and whistles that are out there. I just wonder how people who like to be on the bleeding edge of the Web handle all of their little sites that they may never visit again.
